Madalain's Portrait
I saw Mimi wearing this adorable little blue vintage hat on her blog. We've never met in person; We only know each other from Face book and the Wet Canvas Forum so I asked for permission to use the reference and paint her with a twist. I took a liberty with the shape of her mouth to go with her attire. This was very fun to do! Mimi gave me her stamp of approval so here she is. I did another twisted portrait last year if you want a reminder, look here.

I'm liking the combination of whimsey and realism in this portrait--and the hat is a plus
ReplyDeleteI love how you captured her smile! Showing the teeth and having them somehow look natural has been a real challenge in my recent portrait drawings.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great portrait.
I like the hat too!
ReplyDeleteI love the whimsy and agree with Suzanne about the teeth, they are so hard to get right and you nailed it.
ReplyDeleteFun and whimsical! Love it! Found your blog through Celeste. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the hat and the smile!
ReplyDeleteI love this portrait. There is such a warmth and goofiness about it. I love all the emotion and expressive color in this piece. It's very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteShelly, It has a lot to do with the personality and the style of hat she wore. Thank you
