Abstraction Exercises
Seems like it was time to do some sketch book pages, explore some ideas for abstracts using a minimum of shapes and color then see what develops - think about texture, get a little more painterly with gouache, maybe some pattern....... Nice way to spend cool gray morning. For kids that went back to school today sorry but - Monday's a Holiday!!

I don't have any clue what you are abstracting from...but no matter, I really like these. My favorite might be the final one. I enjoy the neutral color and the austerity!
ReplyDeletethey look like pears to me, I love what you ae doing.
ReplyDeleteIt is always good to switch to something new
WELL DONE
Hi Carrie, These are fun and inspiring! What kind of paper?
ReplyDeletePeggy, it's a light weight drawing paper, ripples like crazy when water hits it - so I add some white gouache to prevent some of the settling of pigment.
ReplyDeleteI love these...the show your creative spirit....as does almost everything you do. It works for me.
ReplyDeletetime to put up a new post---you have some fat onion rings don't you haha thanks for the sketch day yesterday
ReplyDeleteI especially like the colors and shapes in the top one--just luscious!
ReplyDeleteI know Celeste, I was out painting most of the day but I couldn't get it finished I had 3 brushes with me and I didn't like any of them enough.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vicky, Tomorrow is the zoo sketch. I'm deciding if I should not miss my little niece's first soccer match.
