From last Friday, March 23rd.
We had a short session after an almost three hour demonstration by Craig Screbnik on his tonalist approach with a nude figure. His demos are so interesting because of his analogies to opera and all the art history thrown in to boot. Jodi, our model, is one of my plein air buddies but was willing to stay after for a couple hours for a handful of slackers that didn't go outside to paint in the St Johns neighborhood. We don't get to use the studio all that much due to workshops so I wanted to take advantage of Kat's wonderful space. Didn't have to worry too much about bumping another artist's elbow so we could really relax and throw some paint! See other's work from the day here.
Sorry to take so long between posts. I got a little discouraged with the aunties painting and didn't get far. Here is an update. Terrible picture of it but I haven't given up. I'll be back, Later!
Your portrait is gorgeous, Carrie. I also love the Aunties so I do hope you finish it.
ReplyDeleteThis portrait of Jodi is fantastic... I especially love the bold spatter and the eyeglasses!
ReplyDeleteHi Carrie, I'll echo the above sentiment, I LIKE your portrait! It's fresh and lively!
